One of the best kids in the country will be performing a free concert this Wednesday at Van Der Donck Park in Downtown Yonkers. This concert is part of the Yonkers Downtown BID’s summer kids series, Riverwalk Wednesday. Every Wednesday at 5:30, there are amazing free kids shows in the park across the street from the Riverfront Library (1 Larkin Plaza). This summer we’ve already seen concerts, animals shows, mad science, and more. This week, we are so lucky to have Tim & The Space Cadets. So bring your families to enjoy this free show.
Bravely exploring the full spectrum of childhood emotion, the Brooklyn-based Tim and his Space Cadets write songs about the important things in life: pizza parties, parades, and summer vacations; but don’t be surprised if they catch you off guard, with a sweet song about love and loss, an evocation of the bitter-sweetness of a summer come and gone. Songwriters Tim Kubart and Matt Puckett weave their own childhood memories through textured pop tunes, rockers, and lullabies, with lyrics that bridge the gap between innocence and wisdom in a way for listeners of all ages to appreciate and understand.
Of one of their hit songs, which spent six weeks atop the charts at XMKiDS Radio, Out With The Kids raved, “’Superhero’ is the kind of song every kid’s artist dreams of writing,” adding that their leader, “Tim Kubart, kindie’s most handsome chap, exudes a charisma that’s quite possibly second to none.” Tim has been entertaining kids and families since he discovered his calling, playing in the nursery of a New York City homeless shelter where he volunteered during college, and alongside his band-mates, who include some of New York’s most sought-after and talented musicians, he has delighted fans and newcomers, children, teens, and adults alike, at arenas as diverse as the Music Hall of Williamsburg, B.B. King Blues Club, the Smithsonian Museum, South Street Seaport, and Symphony Space. Their engaging live performances are world-class shows, too.
Riverwalk Wednesday is presented by the Yonkers Downtown BID, Domino Sugar, and the City of Yonkers.
